Oh, every Spring it seems that I begin my yearly infatuation with professional sports. The NFL Draft is picking up steam, The Braves are still in contention, and this year the Hawks are competitive! I will be honest, I enjoy the NFL Draft most of all. It is the ultimate in geek-dom for sports junkies. You see, once the the season begins it is too late for arguing and fighting about stuff! Then you can actually use the facts...where is the fun in that?
I was not excited about last season's draft from the Falcons. Ryan and Baker? Seriously? Dimitroff, pictured to the right, was hired in the spring last season before the turn around of the decade. {Sidebar: it is odd to think that actually the turn around of the decade was from a team south of Atlanta, the Miami Dolphins suffered from a 1-15 season and turned it around to 11-5 and the playoffs!}
But as I was saying, this is the best time of the year. All conjecture! No facts, no stats, no proof, that you (or I) am an idiot. So I say, bring on the draft! Let's hear Mel Kiper and Todd McShay argue over 5th round draft picks!
